Private cloud

Your project data on your own server, without having to manage the servers yourself

With Private Cloud, you work in Ed Controls just as you’re used to, while your data is stored on your own server in the EU, separated from other customers and accessible via your own web address. Ed Controls handles the management and updates, so your IT department doesn’t have to worry about a thing.

What is Private Cloud?

Private Cloud is an add-on to the Ed Controls Expert license that stores your project data on a dedicated server in a data center within the EU, physically separated from other customers’ data. You log in via your own web address, such as clientname.edcontrols.com, and Ed Controls handles the management and updates of the server.

This gives you a clear answer if a client in a bid or security questionnaire wants to know where the project data is stored and whether you share that server with other organizations. Nothing changes for your people on the construction site, as they create tickets, perform audits, and follow up on action items in the same app as always.

The security of your own server, the convenience of the cloud

01

Your data is stored separately

Your projects run on your own server, physically separated from other customers’ data. This allows you to specify exactly where your data is located in any security questionnaire.

02

Your own web address

Your team logs in via its own domain, such as clientname.edcontrols.com, so it’s clear to everyone that this is your environment.

03

Managed by Ed Controls

We maintain the server and handle updates, so your IT department doesn’t need to purchase or maintain any hardware.

04

Stored in the EU

The server is located in an ISO 27001-certified data center within the EU, and Dutchview, the company behind Ed Controls, is itself certified to ISO 9001 and ISO/IEC 27001.

Which version of Ed Controls meets your requirements?

Ed Controls comes in three versions, and which one is right for you depends on how strict the requirements for your project data are. Private Cloud falls between the standard cloud and SecurEd: you get the security of your own server, while your team can still log in from anywhere.

Who is Private Cloud intended for?

Private Cloud is ideal for organizations that use Ed Controls Expert and need to demonstrate to themselves or their clients that their project data is not shared with other customers. Examples include construction companies working for government agencies, healthcare institutions, or housing authorities, as well as large organizations with their own IT policies for cloud software.

If you’re already using Ed Controls with an Expert license, you can add Private Cloud as an add-on. If you’re currently using Start or Pro, you’ll first need to upgrade to Expert so you can access integrations with other software and additional fields on tickets.

01 Can I use Private Cloud with a Pro license?

No, Private Cloud is an add-on that’s only available with the Expert license. If you’re currently using Start or Pro, you’ll need to upgrade to Expert first. This will also give you integrations with other software, such as a BIM viewer, AFAS, Salesforce, and SharePoint, as well as additional fields on tickets.

02 Where is my data stored with Private Cloud?

Your data is stored on a dedicated server in a data center within the EU, physically separated from other customers’ servers. The data centers are ISO 27001-certified, and Dutchview, the company behind Ed Controls, is itself certified to ISO 9001 and ISO/IEC 27001.

03 Does my IT department have to manage the server itself?

No, Ed Controls manages the server and handles updates, just like with the standard cloud. So your IT department doesn’t need to purchase or maintain any hardware, which is the biggest difference compared to SecurEd, where the server runs at your own location.

04 Can my team work offline with Private Cloud?

Yes, the Ed Controls app works even without an internet connection. You can record tickets and photos on your phone or tablet, and as soon as you’re back online, the app syncs with your own server. If, on the other hand, you always need to work without an internet connection, then SecurEd is the better choice.

05 What’s the difference between Private Cloud and SecurEd?

With Private Cloud, your data is stored on a dedicated server in the cloud managed by Ed Controls, and you log in via the internet using your own domain. SecurEd runs standalone on a server at your own location, within a closed network without an internet connection, ensuring it meets the strictest requirements, such as those in the defense sector.
